Final in-season wrap up for the 2023 season
November 16, 2023
Hi Guys,
Reluctantly, this is my final in-season wrap up for the 2023 season.
As most of you know, we defeated Mass Maritime 48-6 for a big win in our 44th Cranberry Bowl at Clean Harbors Stadium on a beautiful day for Football. Our team played very well, led by Cranberry Bowl MVP James Cahoon, with Adam Couch and Brendan Albert both playing at the top of their game (see attached). With the win we finished with a 7-1 conference record and in a 3-way tie with UMass Dartmouth and Western CT, so we all have a share of the MASCAC Conference title. Unfortunately, due to a tiebreaker (strength of schedule) we did not get selected for an additional Bowl game or the NCAA Tourney.
While this is very disappointing, we beat the team (West Conn) that will be representing the MASCAC in the NCAAs. We cannot let this decision ruin our season and what this team has accomplished. Starting off at 0-2 could have really crushed this team had it not been for our Captains and leaders who rallied the team to win 7 out of the next 8 games and finish with a 7-3 record. I am very proud of this team and future alumni (17) that we will have to welcome at our alumni dinner and golf in April. I also want to thank everyone who contributed to the Crimson Pride Challenge which ends at midnight tonight. With ALL your help we were able to surpass our goal of $10,000, so THANK YOU ALL for your support.
I look forward to seeing everyone again soon. Have a great Thanksgiving and please let me know who the best players in your area are so we can make them ALL BEARS!
Coach V
