Coach’s Update

Hi guys,

Sorry for taking so long to get a coach’s update to you. I hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to this weekend’s Homecoming game. As you know, we’ve gotten off to a great start at 3-0, with wins over two teams (Curry and Plymouth) that beat us last year. The exciting thing is that we’ve won these games in several different ways: with a dominant running game, a very athletic QB, and an improving defense. Our QB (Jayden Barber) has received two Rookie of the Week accolades from our conference and brings a dimension we haven’t had at the QB position in a long time. Our running game has been solid through three games, and our defense had a big game vs. Plymouth on the road, holding them scoreless midway through the fourth quarter. As you’re all aware, our big game with first-place Framingham was rescheduled due to the storm to next Friday, October 9th, at 6:00 p.m.

So here we are, Homecoming 2026, and we’re playing a very good Worcester State football team with a very good offense that scores a lot of points.

I want to thank all of you for the support of our football program and the emails I’ve received about this season. Please continue to support the football program both on and off the field. I’ll be sending out an email next week as the Crimson Pride Challenge will be starting up shortly.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, cheering us on to a big win!

I do have some bad news to share.

Last year, our wide receiver Mike Wynn from Florida was shot and hospitalized for over six months. His family appreciated all the support our alumni provided, both financially through the GoFundMe and with all your prayers for Mike and his family. Over the summer, we were told he was improving, and he returned home from the hospital a few weeks ago, on September 3rd. His grandmother called me last night and told me that he took a turn for the worse and passed away.

I’ll be sending flowers from the BSU Football Alumni Association on our behalf.
